

James S. Edwards, “Sheldon” was born, May 7, 1918 on the kitchen table of his parent’s home; he was one of five sons born to Charles Wesley and Grace “McElwee” Edwards of Center Village, Ohio.
He slipped away in his sleep, at his home in Reynoldsburg, on July 18, 2014 at the age of 96 years old.
Proceeded in death by: his parents, brothers: Howard, Burns, John & Wilber, & his loving wife of 55 years, JoAnn Hannahs Edwards, to whom he was a great caregiver.
Dad and Mom loved to travel; his favorite place being Alaska. He went once with Mom and twice with best friend, Edwin Maxwell, of Alexandria, Oh. He served with Honor in WWII in the South Pacific with Company C, 4th Battalion Army Ordinance that hop-scotched through the islands before landing in Okinawa, Japan. He was a member of: Newark Masonic Lodge #97, Aladdin Shrine, OES L.C. #551, Senior Shriners, L. C. Shrine Club, Harlem Boy’s Breakfast Club and VFW Post #3097 of Johnstown, Oh. Survived by his: daughter Judi (Corky) Talbot of Reynoldsburg, and son, Jeff Edwards of Karnes City, Texas. Grandchildren: Kenneth A. Gabay, Carrie Ann (Jason) Rabon, Tiffany Talbot, Melanie Talbot, & Shaun (Cassie) Talbot and 4 great grandchildren. Sheldon will be greatly missed by his family & his close friend, Sylvia Borden. Memorial service to be held at the Alexandria United Methodist Church, 72 Church St, Alexandria, OH. On Saturday August 2, 2014 at 11 am with Masonic Service immediately following at 11:30 am. Interment at the Maple Grove Cemetery of Alexandria with Military Service graveside. Thank you for all the phone calls and cards of condolences.
