

James C. Furgason, age 84, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018. James was born on July 30, 1933 in Clintonville, Ohio to the late James and Helen (Thompson) Furgason. He was a graduate of Columbus North High School in 1951. James earned his Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow. He then went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a degree in education in 1955. During his time at OSU, he earned three Varsity 'O's in fencing. James served in the Army from 1956-58 after the Korean War. Following his return from overseas, he received his MA in School Administration. James started his career as a teacher and track coach, but later became the principal of Central High School and Whetstone High School. Later in his career he became the central office school administrator, and finally retired as assistant superintendent in 1990. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Ruthann Jarvis Furgason; children, Daniel (Zoe) Furgason, Deborah (Ken) Newhouse, Kevin (Jill) Furgason; grandchildren, John (Christine) Furgason, Christopher (Laura) Furgason, Emily (Mike) Newhouse Korczyk, Hannah (Greg) Newhouse Ruegsegger, Kai Newhouse, Katelyn Furgason, Ian Furgason; great-grandson, Caleb Furgason; sister, Joan (George) Seiple. In his own words: "I married Ruthann Jarvis at Bexley United Methodist Church in 1955. We met at Ohio State in 1951 at a Sigma Chi- Tri Delt pledge party. We were married for 63 years. I am truly a blessed man. Thank you Lord for all you have given me!" Family will receive friends on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 4-6pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.
