

James Denny Kitchen, age 78, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on December 20, 2017 in the comfort of his home. He was born November 12, 1939 to his parents Nolan Dwight and Tella “Denahue” Kitchen in Coleraine Township. Denny was a proud graduate of The Ohio State University where he received his Doctorate. He served his community as a Probate Lawyer for 43 years. Denny married the love of his life, William Hanes on April 1st, 2015, and they loved every minute of their lives spent together. Denny was a member of The Shamrock Club, as well as a Member Mason of The Logan Elm Lodge #624 in Kingston, and a Shriner. Denny loved to spend time with friends and family, he loved to travel and one of his favorite past times was dressing up as Santa Claus for the children in the community. He loved people, and people loved him. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
Denny is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Edwin (Katie) and Robert (Wanda); as well as his sister Mary.
Left to mourn his passing is his loving husband William; his nieces Karen Kay Allen, Amy Marie (Charlie) Powell, Linda Wellinghoff and Pamela Tysinger; his nephew Ed Kitchen; his very dear friend Louise Hoover; many great as well as great-great nieces and nephews; and his beloved Boston Terrier of 9 years Theoline.
Following Denny’s wishes, cremation will take place. Family and friends may gather for stories and reflection at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, located 151 East Main Street Circleville, on Friday, December 29 from 4 to 8. A Masonic Service will take place at 7:00pm. Denny’s Graveside Service will be held Saturday, December 30, 10am at Green Summit Cemetery with Chaplain Steve Hielkema officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make contributions in Denny’s memory to your favorite charity. Denny’s family would like to thank Bellacare Hospice for their kindness and care, as well as give a special thanks to Carrie Stool.
