James "Jim" Richard Langkamp, 78, passed away on Friday February 13, 2015. And while his passing is devastating to all who loved him, Heaven received a kind, generous, and humorous man. He had lunch with his bride Jean of 54 years, came home to rest in his favorite chair, and passed away peacefully. Jim was born May 22, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA to Herman and Ruth Langkamp along with two brothers, Herman (wife; Sally) and Frank (wife: Tomena) and one sister, Marley (husband; Bob) Roberts. He married his soul mate, Jean, in 1960 and lived a long and fulfilling life with her by his side. They expanded their family with their two sons, Ron Langkamp (wife: Stephanie) and Darren Langkamp (wife: Missi). His two sons together gave him four amazing grandsons, Luke, Jake, Mark, and Wilson, that he supported and loved with all his heart. He retired from IRD, and continued working at Peace Lutheran Church and as a bus driver with Gahanna schools. Jim was extremely active in many organizations dear to his heart; Gahanna Lions Club, Gahanna Senior Center, and Peace Lutheran Church. He was also an advocate as a blood donor and as an Indian Guide and Scout Leader. He loved his family (the Pittsburgh contingent) and his community. He enjoyed his grandsons' sports, family vacations, camping, swimming, woodworking, shopping, jazz concerts, ushering at church, and being a bus driver (because his kids called him Mr. Jim). Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Monday, February 16, 2015 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. (at Beecher Rd.) Gahanna. A Funeral Service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 17 at Peace Lutheran Church 455 Clark State Rd. Gahanna. Pastor Douglas Warburton officiating. Interment will follow at Mifflin Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks for donations to be made to his favorite charity, The Gahanna Lions Club PO Box 30142 Gahanna Ohio 43230. Well done Jim Langkamp, well done!!
