

James Scott "Scotty" McCasland, 83, of Gahanna, Ohio, went to meet his Lord and Savior on February 2, 2022. He was born on October 10, 1938, to the late John "Hickey" and Opal McCasland in Durant, Oklahoma.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of 57 years, Charlotte; his children, Rick McCasland and Kim Stuart; his granddaughter, Daisy Stuart; and his dog Buster.
Scotty was a proud graduate of the United States Naval Academy, 1962. After five years of active duty which included six deployments to the South China Sea during the Vietnam War, he served in the Naval Reserve for 15 years, retiring as Captain.
Scotty worked as an aerospace engineer for General Dynamics and North American Rockwell. He also worked in research and development for Battelle Memorial Institute and the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
He was a member of the U.S. Naval Institute, Reserve Officers Association, and the Naval Academy Alumni Association. Scotty was one of the founders of Gahanna Community Theater, and recently received the Cornerstone Award from Gahanna Lincoln High School. He was also a member of Stonybrook United Methodist Church in Gahanna.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 4pm to 7pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 19, at 11am at Stonybrook United Methodist Church, 485 Cherry Bottom Rd., Gahanna. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Scotty's name to Stonybrook United Methodist Church music fund, or to the Franklin County Humane Society.
