

James R. McMahon, 81, of Columbus, passed away August 4, 2010. He was born in St. Marys, PA to the late Edward and Marcia McMahon. James is also preceded in death by his brother, Tom and sister, Patsy McMahon. James is survived by his loving wife, Marla; children, Marcia (Dennis) Mastroddi, John (Lorraine) McMahon, James McMahon, Amy McMahon, Mark McMahon; grandchildren, Lisa, David and Andrea McMahon, Rachel Hargraeves, Hannah White; 2 brothers, Bill (Lavina) McMahon, David (Karen) McMahon; sister-in-law, Denise McMahon; cousin, Eleanor Baughman and a host of other family and friends. James was a veteran of the US Air Force, proudly serving his country during the Korean War. Jim graduated from DuBois High School in 1947 and attended Penn State University as a labor relations and business major. He married his high school sweetheart, Marla Jean Schneider on December 27, 1952. As a member of the Air Force ROTC, Jim went on to serve at Wright Patterson Air Force base after college. Jim spent over 35 years at IBM, starting as a salesman, and finishing his career as a Senior Marketing Manager in Akron, Ohio. Throughout his career, Jim always made time to help others, especially his own family and friends, as well as through his volunteer work with the Akron Boy Scouts and the Little Sisters of the Poor. Jim and Marla moved to Boynton Beach, FL when he retired from IBM. Local visitation will be held 12:00-1:00PM Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Westminster Thurber 717 Neil Ave., Columbus, Ohio. Where a Mass will be held at 1:00PM. Celebrant will be Father Vincent McKiernan. Visitation will also be held 4:00-8:00PM Friday, August 13, 2010 at Goble-Baronick Funeral Home 211 S. Main DuBois, PA 15801. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00AM Saturday, August 14, 2010 at St. Catherine of Siena 118 S. State St. DuBois, PA. Interment will be at Morningside Cemetery.
