

James A. Nelson, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. He was born on June 12, 1924 in Dover, Ohio. He was a graduate of East High School, The Ohio State University, and Cleveland Marshall Law School. Jim honorably served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He practiced law in the Columbus area from 1955 to 2005 and was a member of the Columbus Bar Association. Jim was a current member of Reynoldsburg United Methodist Church. He was a lay worker in the EUB Conference and long-time member of Ohio Avenue United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Columbus SE Camp of the Gideon's International. In former years, he enjoyed boating, camping, and dabbled in classic cars. Jim was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Bernice Nelson as well as his sister, Jeanne Nelson. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Elaine; son, Steve; daughter, Lori (John) Riddle; granddaughter, Janelle (Matt) Guirreri; grandson, Rocky Riddle; and great-grandson, Jonathon Guirreri. Family will receive friends 4-7 pm Thursday at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will be held at 10 am Friday, April 29, 2016. Interment to follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Columbus SE Camp of Gideon's International.
