

James Frank "Gunner" Riley, 77, passed away April 29, 2018, in Columbus, OH. He was born in Columbus to the late Lowell Riley and Elizabeth Queen. Gunner grew up in Marble Cliff and attended the Grandview School system where he continued to support the Grandview Heights High School Alumni Association. Gunner attended The Ohio State University where he graduated with a Bachelor in Architecture, he was a member of the Presidents Club and was a devoted OSU football fan. He obtained his Master of Fine Arts in Architecture from Princeton and was a Fulbright Scholar in Delft. He retired from McDonald, Cassell and Bassett, Architects as a partner but continued to practice until recently. He was a proud member of the Central Ohio Mini Owners Club, an avid tomato gardener and amateur genealogist. Gunner enjoyed time at his cabin in Hocking Hills, playing the piano and spending time with his family. He will be missed by his wife of 10 years, Sue Riley; son, Peter Bowen "Bo" (Katie Montanaro) Riley; daughter, Dea Boster (Johannes) Wuerdig; stepdaughters, Denise (Michael) Babb Lippman, and Julie (Gregory) Babb Hitchcock; grandchildren, Maxwell, Lucy, Gabe, Lizzy, Charlie, Katrina, and Ethan; sister, Marianne (Garry) DeVictor; brother, T.J. (Candy) Riley and numerous nieces and nephews. His family invites those who wish to remember his life on Friday, May 4, from 6PM to 8PM at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL 229 E. State Street.
