I was so saddened to learn of Gunner's passing. So glad we talked yesterday.
I learned so much more of Gunner reading his obituary and comments from his
friends. I would see Gunner occasionally downtown when I worked in the Galleria.
Of course we talked, as we were family by marriage.
You have my deepest sympathies.

Dear Family and Friends, 

Gunner was a close friend from the third grade to Grandview H.S. graduation. Early on it as Children's choir at FCC  and then hanging out at his house watching Howdy Doody. We played for hours in the ravine behind his house until his mother would call him in for dinner and send me home. One time we discovered a rock with lots of sparkles. Maybe they were diamonds?! Gunner brought it to school the next day so we could take it for an appraisal by a Grandview Avenue jeweler. "No boys, I'm afraid it's not a diamond, but it is pretty. It's quartz. Some people put a panel of it above their fireplaces." 

After that it was Scouts and B of R.  Thanks, Gunner, for many fine childhood memories.

It was a shock to learn about Gunner's death.  I realize it's a reminder that family should stay in touch and I'm terrible about that.  I had hoped to attend calling hours today but have no one to care for my husband, Paul, who is suffering from dementia.  Gunner may have been 77 but I still remember the little fellow that would visit our family on the farm.  May he rest in peace.  My thoughts and prayers are with his wife, siblings, children, and grandchildren.

Gunner.....almost old enough to be my father.....you passed words of wisdom on to me for the 30 years we have known each other. I loved you almost as a father at times, almost as a brother other times. These tears are for you...may we meet again, in Heaven. I truly love you...Rick Linville

Marianne, I was saddened to learn of your brother's passing and you have my condolences. The Riley family was a big contributor to the GHS community through church and in other ways during our years growing up.  You have much to be proud of. 
Your friendship was important to me as I struggled to navigate the high school years. I believe Gunner and my brother Bob were contemporaries and friends.

I worked with Gunner at MCB for a number of years before he retired.  Gunner was always, always nice and patient.  We had great talks on the way to and from projects and he asked me pointed questions about how I reconcile my conflicting beliefs.  When I saw Gunner after his retirement, it was always a pleasant visit and came with a hug.  He will be missed.

To Family Members: it was with deep sadness when I read of Gunner's passing. We were classmates and graduates of the OSU School of Architecture. Gunner was quite accomplished at all he would undertake. Following our graduation there were times that he worked on prijects with Alan McDonald in Athens or Ohio University. Our personal relationship grew later when Jerry and Sue Smith hosted classmates at their home in Lancaster followed by a trip to the Lancaster Festival.
My prayer is that Gunner Rests in Peace and Rises in Glory. he was a very good man.

Jane and I have worked with Gunner for the past 20 years, especially on the Grandview Heights High School Alumni Association.  He had tremendous responsibility as treasurer, never needing to be bonded.  He also designed our carriage house (garage) on Urlin Avenue.  I called him out of a meeting once to ask a silly question about the design.  Even though he was busy on more important stuff, he was nice about the interruption.  He always was.

Sue - Gunner was one very special guy, he will be missed! You are in my thoughts and prayers, of course. I will miss that smile of his and when you asked him "How are You?" - the answer was always "Powerless". Love You!
