James Edwin Spencer

James "Jim" Spencer was born on February 22, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio and died February 14, 2018, also in Columbus. Jim was predeceased by his wife Lora Spencer. Jim is survived by Step-son and Daughter-in-law Dale and Penny Palmer, and Step-son Charles Palmer. Among those surviving are also niece Patricia Koonse; grandchildren Jonathan (Paige) Palmer, Lauren (Herman) Palmer and Amber (Randy) Ellison; great-grandchildren Trevon, Kolin, Jarren, Javen and Jaxten Palmer; Shelby Palmer and Emily and Sarahbeth Nichles. The family also wishes to recognize his childhood and best friend Leroy Meadows. Jim served his Country well in the United States Army during which time he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge. After his service in the military he worked for the State of Ohio for 27 years. Throughout his life Jim was a True American and a Veteran who LOVED his Country. The family would like to thank Mount Carmel Hospice for their assistance during Jim's journey. Donations may be made to Mount Carmel Hospice in lieu of flowers. There will be a visitation on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 2:00pm - 3:00pm with a funeral service following at 3:00pm. All services will be held at Schoedinger Grove City Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio, 43123. Private interment will be held at a later date at the Silver Creek Cemetery in Jamestown, Ohio.
