

Columbus, Ohio passed away November 10, 2019 after a short battle against cancer. She was 61 years old.
In life, Jan was full of beauty, grace, compassion and thoughtfulness, service, integrity and honor. She gifted her family, friends, church community, and co-workers with time and talent, laughter and light, curiosity and consideration.
Jan spent her early childhood in Irwin, PA and moved with her family to Upper Arlington, OH when she was in elementary school. A graduate of the class of 1976 from Upper Arlington High School, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in communications and M.S. in Allied Health Sciences from The Ohio State University. As a registered dental hygienist, Jan worked in dental practices in Texas, Colorado, Tennessee, and Georgia through her early career. She returned to Columbus in 1993 and worked for over 26 years for The OSU Dental Faculty Practice. She also served as an Adjunct Faculty instructor for 10 years in the dental hygiene program at Columbus State Community College. She valued her work community, including colleagues, students, and patients, and always provided the best quality care.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Robert (Bob) Bruce Duncan Jr. (Dublin, VA), sister-in-law, Catherine Chesnick (Joseph Sr.) and brother-in-law James (Jim) Bourke (Philadelphia, PA). She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Michael Bourke; her parents Robert (Bob) Bruce and Georgianne (Dordi) Stivanson Duncan of Georgetown, TX; sister Diane Duncan Mattox and husband Ronald Mattox of Westerville, OH. Her family also includes sister-in-law Susan E. Duncan (wife of Bob Jr) and niece Taylor A. Duncan of Dublin, VA; sisters-in-law Mary Ann (Bill) Munk, Margaret (Drew) Connor, Bernadette Bourke, Patricia (Tom) Iannarino, all of Columbus, Anita (wife of Jim) Bourke of Newtown Square, PA, and Denise Boley of New Albany; and Brother-in-law Joe Chesnick (husband of Catherine) of Columbus. She had numerous adoring nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home, 6699 N. High St., Worthington, OH, on Saturday, November 16th from 1:00 to 3:00p.m., followed by a memorial service. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at North Unitarian Universalist Congregation at 1574 Franklin St., Lewis Center, OH.
