

Martin “Jay” Fath, age 76 of Circleville, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Pickaway Manor Care Center. Jay was born May 15, 1936 in Jersey City, NJ, son of the late Martin J. and Angela (Gibbons) Fath.
Jay was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was retired from RCA with 28 years of service. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and Euchre, lake fishing and golf. Having spent many leisure days sailing and power boating on the Chesapeake Bay, Jay was an active member of the Lancaster, PA, U.S. Power Squadron from 1986-1997. He was the education officer for three years and served an additional three years on the Bridge, attaining the rank of Executive Officer. Jane and Jay Sailed for 5 years and changed over to a power boat for their remaining 6 years on the Bay, out of Maryland.
Jay joined the Knights of Columbus, Fr. John S. Hannan Council #5297 in 1973 in Circleville. After 30 years with active participation, Jay became an honorary Life member of the Knights of Columbus. Over the years, Jay conducted many activities as the program chairman. He also held various offices, including Grand Knight and District Deputy. In 1979, Jay was involved in forming and incorporating the Pickaway Catholic Men’s Club, a title holding company for the Council. Jay served as its’ first president for 5 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister Patricia Stone. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Jane (Napoliton) Fath; children Michael (Sherry) Fath of Worthington, Brian (Deborah) Fath of Columbus and Denise (Mark) Marshall of Stoutsville; grandchildren Joseph Fath, Matt (Brooke) and Jayson Marshall; great grandchildren Reese and Madelynn Marshall; sisters Colette (Frank) Malerba of Rollingsford, NH and Linda Hardy of Royal Palm Beach, FL; brother Jerry Fath of Savannah, GA.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 Monday, October 29th 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 134 W. Mound St., Circleville, Fr. Ted Machnik Celebrant. Inurnment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville where a Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
