Steve and I will miss our dear friend, especially sharing good conversation and dinners with him in Hilton Head. Our heart breaks for Jeff’s daughter’s  and grandchildren whom he loved so much and talked about often with us. Our deepest sympathy goes out to all of you and your extended family.  
We are blessed to have spent good times with Jeff in Hilton Head over the years and will cherish those memories. We’re keeping you all close in our thoughts and lifting you up in prayer….Steve and Lisa Smith

When I arrived at Grandview in 5th grade, I was assigned the seat next to Jeff. It was a lucky assignment. Jeff became my good friend then, and the friendship lasted throughout the years. We enjoyed many laughs as he had a great sense of humor. He could sing! We shared the joy of singing together in a barbershop quartet. We were in each other’s weddings. RIP, Jeff.

We share our love and sympathy with our dear friends, The Ott’s. The Ott’s  and The Comer’s have shared a special friendship for 45 years.  So many memories of fun times, together, will always warm  our hearts, and keep Jeff and Sharon’s spirits alive. Jeff loved his family and friends, deeply.  His interest in others’ lives was clearly  revealed with his questions and conversation.  He loved catching up and hearing what was going on.  During the past couple years, Jeff spent lots of time on the phone with dear friends from all over the country..and he always included, “I love you”, with his Good bye. Jeff and Sharon’s home was often filled with friends and family, partying and celebrating nearly every holiday  and special occasions. Jeff’s table at Brookside was always full of  “ the guys”, young and old , because he cared about people and was quite entertaining with his quick wit and humor. He made everyone smile and laugh. Jeff will be missed , especially by  his children and grandchildren, friends, and our sons Jason and Nick who affectionately always called him Uncle Jeff . Tom and our boys golfing memories with Jeff , are abundant…… Brookside , Firestone, and  Ireland, just to name a few. 
Jeff just loved sharing his hospitality and fun loving spirit with everyone.  We can’t wait to sit at his table with him , and Sharon , again, in Heaven , catching up, and enjoying their love and humor.

I met Jeff at Miami, both residents of Stanton Hall.  I came to know him much better after I joined Brookside.  Jeff and his father Marv were so welcoming.  I soon realized how important Evans Scholars was to both of them. They worked to support the caddie program 
and support young caddies.
Jeff and I served on the Board together and saw a major renovation to completion. He was one of the “Sons of Brookside” that helped make the great club what it is today.  Jeff, I hope that you are looking down on us with that bottle of Bud and smiling. My deepest condolences to the girls and their families.

Jeff and his father, Marv, were two great gentlemen. After I joined Brookside I stopped into the stag room one night. Jeff and Marv were at a table and they invited this newcomer over. After a short chat they both started calling  members over to their table to introduce me. I must have met 30 members that night. Always a pleasure to play golf with both. Jeff, my friend, go rest high on that mountain your work on earth is done. Peace to the family.

Jeff was my college roommate my junior year at Miami University.   I met him early in my sophomore year as we shared the same dormitory.  There are so many great memories.  We  enjoyed intramural volleyball and basketball.  We both met our wives at college.  I remember the four of us going uptown to the movie theatre and waiting in line outside playing cards with Pam's miniature cards.  I remember an impromptu tackle football game in the rain and mud.  I remember those trips to the Purity for a steak sandwich and beer.  I remember the game of hearts after dinner many evenings.  We both shared business classes.  Pam and I married before our senior year.  Jeff would come to our apartment in the mornings to walk with me to class.  If Pam wasn't up yet, he would sit on the bottom of the bed and with that booming voice and cheerful attitude, wish her good morning all in good fun.  We had so much fun.  When I was married, Jeff was part of the wedding party and got me so drunk the night before the wedding I am still amazed that I made it to the wedding on time.  I returned the favor the next year when he and Sharon got married, but waited until after the wedding at the reception and post wedding party.  When they left, Sharon had to drive, a harbinger of the future when Sharon would drive to the beach.  Since we lived far apart, we didn't get to see each other often in later years, but whenever we did, whether in Maryland, Ohio, or at Hilton Head, it was as if we saw each other often.  We  always enjoyed ourselves.  Pam and I will miss Jeff as we miss Sharon.  He always brought us joy and put a smile on our faces. My thoughts and prayers are with the Ott family.  Jeff was one of the first members I met at Brookside and I had the privilege of golfing with him many times.  Sharon and Jeff, both loving and kind, are special people you hope to meet in life’s journey.
