Jerry Lee Doyle, age 59, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2011, at Mount Carmel Medical Center. He was born in Springfield, Ohio, on February 25, 1952, to the late Nathaniel and Betty Doyle. Jerry attended South High School and was a self-made businessman, but his primary occupation was that of community activist. He was passionate about the needs of others, especially the elderly and mistreated. He gave a voice to those who could not defend themselves, and he worked continuously to spread awareness and rally support for key issues in the community. Jerry modeled his life after Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and he strove to embody the same strength and passion. He was fearless, and he taught his family to live life honestly and work hard. Jerry was a child of God, and he maintained a positive attitude through anything life brought his way. He was an upstanding and remarkable man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Rita Doyle; children, Kimberly Doyle, April Doyle, Tiwana (Tobie) Mack, Jerry Lee Doyle Jr., and Nathaniel Doyle III; sisters, Joyce (Joseph) Rodgers, Debbie Doyle, and Venus Caprice Doyle; brothers, Cecil Doyle and Wayne Doyle; 12 grandchildren; and many wonderful friends, especially Michael Reese. Family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Visit www.schoedinger.com to leave condolences.
