Jerry Lee Sykes, age 73 passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Jerry was born on February 17, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio to Kenneth and Helen (Smith) Sykes. He proudly served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. Jerry was a decorated veteran receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal, Expert Rifle, Army Commendation Medal and Bronze Star Medal. Jerry enjoyed woodworking and was a cabinet maker for many years. He loved to draw and design things to make out of wood. Jerry also drew motorcycles and made 3 wheelers out of Volkswagen Beatles. Preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Helen Sykes. Survived by his children, Kenneth and Andrea; sister, Jean (Chuck) Moore; many aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Per Jerry's wishes he has chosen cremation without any services. He will be buried in Dayton National Cemetery.
