

Joanne, a lifelong resident of the Columbus area, was born to Ethel (Wilcox) and George B. Pymer on August 13, 1926. She passed away peacefully on February 24, 2019.
Jo attended the Ohio State University before working as the administrative assistant to the Superintendent of Bexley Schools in the 1940's when she met and married the love of her life, Richard ("Dick") Bauer, then the art teacher at Bexley High School. Jo later worked for many years in the Registrar's Office at Capital University where husband Dick was an art professor.
Jo was an avid reader of presidential history and avid bridge player. She was a wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma, passing the ability to love and be loved to her entire family.
She was a founding member of Brookwood Presbyterian Church in Columbus in the 1950's then later a founding member of New Albany Presbyterian Church in the late 1990's. In addition, Jo was a tireless giver of her time to charitable organizations such as "Meals On Wheels," "Twig" at Childrens Hospital, the Kidney Foundation and Worthington Christian Village, among others.
Jo was preceded in death by husband Dick and brother, G. Robert Pymer. She is survived by her sister Florence Macklin of Austin, TX, her two children Rick (Rosemarie) Bauer of New Albany, OH and Susan Bauer (Stephen Bernheim) of Olga, WA; four grandchildren Jon Bauer (Jubal Douglass) of Granville, Amy (Paul) Haddad of Boston, Lucie Bernheim (John Drenning) of Seattle and Ashley Bauer (Ryan Marienau) of Hilliard, OH; three great-grandchildren Piper Rose, John and Odin; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service honoring Joanne's life will be held on March 9 at 2:00 PM at Worthington Christian Village, 165 Highbluffs Blvd, Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers the family requests that those who wish can donate in Joanne's memory to the Worthington Christian Village benevolent fund.
