She was Valedictorian of her high school class. She graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Miami University in 1952 where she was selected for the homecoming court and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. While attending college she met her loving husband of 62 years, Robert J. Harrington.
Shortly after they were married, the couple moved to Caracas, Venezuela, where she worked two years in the British American Library.
As a lifelong resident of Upper Arlington, Josie became an active, faithful member of Riverside United Methodist Church, and most recently, Mountview Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She volunteered at Riverside Hospital for more than 30 years, serving as the President of the Volunteer Organization and in 2011 was an honored recipient of the Presidential Service Award.
She created beautiful artwork (known for her beautiful hand-painted sand dollars, she used to adorn gifts) and will be joyfully remembered for her love of the beaches of Florida. Josie lived a faithful life, filled with grace and giving. She brought joy to those she knew, generously supported those in need, she was a true friend to all, always with a warm smile. She was beautiful inside and out.

(Jennifer) Harrington; grandchildren, Daniel (Kellie) Harrington, Lindsay Harrington, Jason (Heather) Jones, Andrew (Elane Edly) Jones, Nicholas Jones, Dylan Harrington and Taylor Harrington; great-grandchildren, Clara Josie, Marcus William and Wesley Clayton Jones; as well as brother, Robert (Nora) Wallace.
