Joe Hughes

Joseph P. Hughes, age 84, of Columbus, Ohio passed away July 23, 2014. He was born February 20, 1930 in Columbus to the late Edward and Colletta Hughes. Joe retired from the Franklin County Engineers and went on to work as a coach driver for Dave Thomas. He was a member of the Fly-Town Club and was an avid golfer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Daniel, step-daughter Michelle Abrams and siblings, Libby, Frances, Rose, Tom and Jack. Joe is survived by his wife, Martha "Marty" Hughes; children Patricia (John) Cochran and Chuck (Terry) Hughes; step-children Doug (Laura) Phillips and Kevin Phillips; 10 beloved grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters Jane Hughes and Colletta Hartnett; numerous nieces and nephews. Family will welcome friends Monday, July 28, 2014 from 4-7pm (4:00 Rosary) at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel, 3030 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43204 with funeral service following at 7pm; Andrew Hoover, celebrant.
