

John Robert Dodd, age 64, died May 9, 2010. He was born April 26, 1946 to the late Harold A. and Rachel M. Dodd. He was awarded his Bachelors’ Degree from Princeton University and his Masters’ from American University. He was a teacher, coach, and athletic director for 40 years at St. Albans School in Washington, DC, Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA, Columbus Academy, New Albany (Ohio) High School (where he coached his son), and he coached men’s and women’s tennis at Denison University. He was a member of Central College Presbyterian Church. John was a past president of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association and member of the USTA. He was a collector of sports memorabilia, and an avid bridge player and tennis player. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Erin (Tanner) Coulter, and Ryan Dodd; sister, Betsy (Bill) Pittman; and nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Ohio State University Hospital MICU, and Mt. Carmel West. Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd.
