John (Jack) Alfred Egli, 75, succumbed on January 23, 2016 to the long term effects of Multiple Sclerosis. He greatly benefitted from the excellent 24/7 care he received from Felix, his extraordinary caregiver. For this, Jack's family is grateful.
Jack was pre-deceased by his parents, George and Dorothy Egli of Wayne, New Jersey. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, David and Cynthia Egli of Wyckoff, NJ and his sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and John (Jack) Hanna of Columbus, OH, their children and grandchildren. His family will continue to share "Jack Stories" and memories of this remarkable man for many years to come.
Following his graduation from high school, Jack attended Drexel University but left to enlist in the Air Force where he served as a veterinary specialist at Williams AFB in Mesa, Arizona. After his tour of duty ended, he settled in Phoenix where he earned a BS Degree in Agriculture from the University of Arizona. Eventually Jack relocated in Allison, Colorado where his MS was conclusively diagnosed in 1986. Along the way, Jack made many friends; he was good looking, glib and committed to being an eternal bachelor. Many women tried to change his mind but to no avail. As he became more and more physically debilitated, his mental acuity compensated for his inability to make his body behave as he wished it would. His greatest, but not only, passion was motorcycles. In 2005, as a quadriplegic, he was moved from Colorado to Ohio to be near his sister.
Jack Egli will be remembered by many people for many reasons. Felix and Jack's family take comfort that his suffering has ended and that St. Peter enjoys regular rides on the back of Jack's motorcycle.
