Here are three core members of the coffee meet-ups  which John, De and Art had daily, or even more often!  This was taken at Panera's at Kingsdale, but I never knew where I would run into them as I was getting a coffee.  This must be one of their secrets to ltheir ong, happy lives.  - Jayn Roush Mayton

Our deepest condolences to Melinda, Susan and families from De Roush and our families and caregivers, who treasured their visits together.  From our earliest days in Upper Arlington, in 1967, up to this moment, we have watched John and De's friendship, as well as Maryann's and Jo's, endure and thrive through the years.

It's such a rare blessing to have lifelong friends, and for the children to benefit and aspire to such a friendship.

John was a character.  He could talk about anything.  He was always curious.  We would talk at the coffee table at church.  He attended the "dinner for 9" events from church.  Often with couples who are 40 years his junior.  He kept up with all the conversations.  Young at heart.  But he was also an old soul.  He could share and relate to just about anything.  Miss you John.

Dear family of our wonderful neighbor and friend, John. We have lived across the street from John for 25 years. He was a wonderful neighbor and a dear friend. It was always lovely seeing him at church. We enjoyed sitting on the front patio of the house in the white wicker chairs and having gin and tonics and sharing stories. He definitely has one of my favorite Smiles of the whole neighborhood. He always brought us over corn from his wonderful Farm. He will be missed. Sending our love, Martin and Cora

Thank you Jesus for my Uncle John, a kind man and hard worker who took care of his family.  If you could get to heaven being nice, he would be in but his mother taught him our only hope was in Jesus. The last time I was with him, he told us that he trusted in Jesus for his salvation.  May we always make that choice.   Bill Warner

My sister and I will always be grateful to John for the joy he brought to our mom's life. They loved to get dressed up and go out for a fine dining experience. In this photo, they're in Naples, FL. John was a blessing to our whole family and after our mom died in 2013, we continued to get together with John whenever the family gathered in Columbus. I often talked to him on the phone from my home in Wisconsin, and my sister visited with him in Columbus. They especially enjoyed getting together in the morning for breakfast at Panera.

So sorry to learn that John has passed.  He was one of a bunch of us fellows who would meet almost every morning to have coffee at Starbucks in UA.  We discussed everything under the sun and all appreciated him being there.  After the coffee group broke up as some moved away John and I would get together at his house occasionally for a G&T in the afternoon, sitting on the front porch.  Then as time passed we would call each other to keep in touch.
