Your father was a great man who lived a full life.  He certainly made a huge impact upon me as a youth.  He stuck me as a man who could "walk with kings, yet not lose the common touch".  Know that you are in my prayers in your time of loss, my friend.

I am compelled by the life of this extraordinary man to send my thoughts, prayers and sincere sympathy to Connie, Judy, Debbie, Jack and all of their families. Patrick Collins, (PG) John’s nephew was my husband, whom I recently lost, so I will try to speak for him.  Pat so admired his Uncle John. He often told of his pride in having such a remarkable man to call Uncle. I said to Pat after meeting John for the first time that he must truly have been a magnificent figure on the bench and Pat would always say, you have not idea he truly was and with the beautiful video tribute I see he indeed was. But, most of all I remember John as a true patriarch defined as “any of those biblical figures regarded as fathers of the human race.” Most certainly John Hill can be counted among those. His love and caring for his family was one of the greatest passions I have ever known. His families loss will be devastating as he gave so much of himself. A great man has left us and his shadow and spirit now beyond human. I know such a strong, powerful extraordinary man will forever be with his family. Polly Wehner Collins

To Connie and the family of "Judge" John Hill,

We are fortunate to have come to know you and John over the years at Imperial, Brookside, and as neighbors in Powell.  John was one of those iconic characters we meet in life from whom we learn much and will remember fondly.  He was particularly influential in my gin rummy training and I enjoyed a final game of cards with him last week.  His stories ranging from his WW II experiences to the present day were always entertaining and reflect a life full of experiences and people who he cared about deeply.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I have known John for at least 45 years as a client and a friend. He was a great man and very knowledgeable about business and life in general. A fierce competitor on the golf course and in a card game. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. My condolences and sympathy go out to his family.
