

John H. (Jack) Harvey, III 68, died at his home on Tuesday, June 11 of natural causes. He was the son of the late John and Daisy Harvey. He was born in Columbus on 1/7/1945. Jack was a 1963 graduate from Upper Arlington High School and would have attended his 50th class reunion next month. His career was in the automotive industry. He owned Harvey’s Sohio in Hilliard until 1975 when he became a claims manager for JC Penney Ins. in Milwaukee. In 1985, he moved to Tampa and was a claims adjuster for Colonial Penn Insurance. Returning to Columbus in 1994, he managed body shops for a number of dealerships and was currently working at Rife’s Autobody. Jack served in the US Army National Guard for six years during which time he was activated when rioting took place at the Ohio State Penitentiary. He was a Life Member of the NRA, a member of Masonic Lodge 684, and an avid Ohio State football fan. Most will remember him for his love of the Fourth of July and all the fireworks that went with it. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marlene, daughters Jill (Gary) Venenga of Greenville Ohio, Dr. V. Lynn Harvey of Boulder CO and son John, IV of Columbus. Grandchildren Elizabeth and Nick Venenga. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 4:00 pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2151 Dorset Rd. Upper Arlington. There will be a short Masonic service followed by the Rite of Burial. Friends are invited to meet the family one hour before the service if desired. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Schoedinger, Northwest Chapel.
