

John D. Kirby. Pastor John Douglas Kirby passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. He was born on October 11, 1945 in Randolph County, Alabama to the late Chester M. and Lessie Boyd Kirby.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia M. Kirby; children John D. ‘Doug’ (Tammy), Kenneth D. (Mindy) and Cherri N. (Charles) Bott; grandchildren: Ryan D. (Katelyn), Taylor M., Haley L. (Jeffrey) Copley, Rachael A., Cole A., C. Trenton, Rylea N. and Landon M.; great-granddaughters: Karlie and Kylie; sister Joan M. (James) Johnston, sister-in-law Avonelle Kirby; nieces, nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his brother Jerry Kirby.
An avid motorcycle rider for 20 years, Pastor Kirby and his wife Sylvia were members of the Gold Wing Road Riders. They enjoyed taking their motorcycle to Canada, Nova Scotia, trips up and down the coast, and all 48 states several times.
His life as a Pastor spanned 40 years. He dedicated 25 years serving as Pastor at Maize Road Baptist Church.
Family will receive friends from 2-5pm, Sunday at Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N. High Street in Worthington, where his Funeral Service will be held at 10am, Monday. Interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park.
