John Wayne Lewis

John Wayne Lewis, age 68, passed away at home on Sunday, August 6, 2017. John was born on September 19, 1948 in Marion, Indiana to Howard and Ruth (Mittank) Lewis. John worked as a suit salesman for many years. He was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. John loved the ministry, the Bible and served as an Elder in the Hilltop Congregation in Columbus, Ohio. He served for many years as a regular Pioneer alongside his wife, Maxine. He had a lifelong love of music and played the trumpet. He also enjoyed Model A and T cars, word play and corny jokes. His sense of humor and positive attitude will be missed by all who loved him. Preceded in death by his wife, Nellie and father, Howard Lewis. Survived by his wife of 30 years, Maxine; mother, Ruth Lewis; brothers, Ralph J. "Jim" (Salome) Lewis and David (Lucinda) Lewis; nieces and nephews and beloved companion-his dog, Suzi Q; and a host of dear friends. Family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Thursday, August 10, 2017 and Friday, August 11th from 10-11:00 am where funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at Hope and Heart Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 3030 W.
