John A. Soma

John A. Soma, age 74, of Johnstown, formerly of Whitehall, Ohio passed away peacefully on September 10, 2014. John was born June 24, 1940 in Lithuania to the late Jonas and Marta Soma; also preceded in death by his sister Hilda and brother, Robert. John was many things to many people! He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; a coach and the man in the chicken suit. He was a carpenter and a plumber, a 45 year member of Local Union #189 and co-owner of Ohio Store Fixtures. He was a Jack of all trades. He was an outdoorsman who loved "walkabout hunts" and "the man in the stands" who loved cheering on his kids and grandkids at the ball field. John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Eva L. Soma; children, Alan (Becky) Soma, Jimmy (Tara) Soma and Lori (Ronnie) Boerner; grandchildren Cody, Jacob, Mackenzie, Luke, Mitchell, Payton, Matthew, Donnie, Shawn (Wendy), Ashley (Rob); great-grandchildren McKayla, Cierra, Brock, Laken, Little Donnie; siblings, Elena (Joe) Petraitas, Al (Donna) Soma, Anne (Jim) Lowery, Erika (Paul) Bailey, Birta (Donald) Floyd, Jack (Sharon) Soma; sister-in-law Shirley Soma; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family Mike Criswell and Paul Finley. Family will receive friends 1-3pm and 5-8pm Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232 where services will be held at 10am Monday; interment to follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens; Andrew Hoover, Celebrant.
