John Joseph Pershing Stanley

John Joseph Pershing Stanley (age 88) of Upper Arlington passed away February 5, 2011. His family was the joy and pride of his life. He was a loving husband to his cherished Jo Camille (deceased 1996), devoted father, proud grandfather and joyful great grandparent. He is survived by sons: Mike (Sharilyn), Scott (Carla), and Mark (Connie); 14 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He received degrees from the University of Tennessee (Political Science) and the University of Kentucky (Masters in Finance). During his 43 years of public service; he worked for the State of Kentucky and the State of Ohio; he served as Columbus City Finance Director for Mayor M. E. Sensenbrenner; and served as Director and Professor of Public Management Programs at The Ohio State University. He enlisted as a Marine during WW II in the Pacific (including Iwo Jima). A memorial service (officiated by Pastor Beau Stanley) will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 9th at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus OH 43221. Family will receive friends from 10 AM until time of service. Internment takes place on a later date at Highland Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kentucky.
