Denise:  My goodness, I am deeply saddened to learn about John's passing.  Living so far away (in the Northwest) for so many years, unfortunately we lost touch over the last 10 years or so.  I just learned about John's passing when someone forwarded me a text after getting my phone number through my nephew in Columbus, Don Sheldon.

I got to know John when he worked at Ohio Bell with my brother Dick Sheldon.  We ended up becoming great friends and then roommates.  We shared apartments for a time, first at Worthington Forest apartments in Columbus and then Summit Chase in Grandview. We had great times and created wonderful memories  I have always felt I was truly blessed to know John. He was a great man that I really respected.  He will be missed. I'm so sorry Denise. I met John through the West Alumni Association. In addition to his emails and phone calls, I will miss the conversations we had at the various alumni activities he attended. I had grown to consider John a friend who I will miss. My condolences to his wife and extended family.

John was a super longtime friend for 40 years and will truly
by missed by all who knew him, especially us Yellow Page Old 
Timers who are left.  He was my co-worker, a great mentor & 
fellow Veteran.  We worked, lived and played on the road together
and I will forever cherish those memories. Enough memories 
to fill a book… or as John would say “To Make a Long Story Short” 
and then proceed to tell the Long Version. 
So John,    “Happy Trails to you, until we Meet Again………………”

Michael & Pamela Prevette purchased the Arrive in Style for the family of John W. Walter.

Although I did not John long, I felt like I did, being friends with the Valus family for many years, I heard many stories about Uncle John and his many stories and adventures he would talk about! Spending time with him on 2 different cruises I got to know him! What a wonderful Man! It was very evident that he loved Denise dearly ! He will be missed dearly, RIP “Uncle John”:pray:
And of course Go Buckeyes! ( which I know he loved )

My good friend John.  We shared so much of our life together it's hard to image you not coming to California for a visit or being together watchin OSU win another championship.  We talked and talked about or mutual friends from the past.  We traveled together to California to seek adventure and opportunities.  You were more than a friend to me.  Maybe more like the brother that I never had. RIP good buddy.
