

Josef Miler, 64, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 5, 2011 at his home. He was born June 8, 1947 in Prague, Czech Republic. Josef attended University in the Czech Republic and received degrees in engineering, political economy, and fine arts. Josef and Veronica were married in Prague and moved to New York shortly thereafter. They then lived in Boston for many years with their growing family where he was loved and respected by many in the Boston University community. Most recently, he was employed at Battelle in Columbus.
Josef was a true family man who shared his thoughtfulness and humor with all those around him. Josef loved to travel, especially back to his native Prague, which, along with his family there, was always near and dear to his heart. Josef was proud to incorporate both his Czech and American cultures into his life. He was a jack of all trades, enjoyed seeing new places and gaining new perspectives, was curious, and loved talking to people. Josef was a dedicated soccer dad, enjoyed listening to music, gardening, and art.
Preceded in death by his parents, Josef and Sylva Miler. Josef will be dearly missed by his wife of 40 years, Veronica; children, Kristina (Todd Allee) Miler, Michelle Miler, Josef Miler, Katherine Miler, and Alison Miler; granddaughter, Camille Allee; brother, Jiri (Olga) Miler; and niece, Sylvie Miler.
