

Joe was a dedicated family man and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed by his wife of 47 years Rose (Ventresco) San Filippo; children Julie (Michael) Lutz, Joseph (Lynn) San Filippo III, Daniel (Amy) San Filippo and James (Ashley) San Filippo; grandchildren Danielle, Gabrielle, Makenna, Olivia, Joseph Riley, Gavin, Daniel Aiden, Vincent, Abigail, Violet, Leonardo and Milo; siblings Michael (Eileen) San Filippo, Christina (the late Larry) Norten, Catherine (Judy) San Filippo, Roseanne McDonald, Steve (Teresa) San Filippo, Phil (the late Bonnie) San Filippo and Paul (Beth) San Filippo; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was a life-long learner who enjoyed expanding his mind through music, reading, writing, painting and religion; his Roman Catholic faith was of the utmost importance to him. Joe taught religious education at various parishes and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church; you can read his blog by going to www.catholicmeditationsandtheworld.blogspot.com. After college, Joe entered as an officer in the Army Corp of Engineers. Staying fit was a priority for Joe. He loved to golf, exercise, play bocce, take long walks and play with his grandchildren. Joe retired in 2010 after working at Nationwide Insurance for many years. He served on the board of directors for the American Heart Association and HPIO. He was most recently a member of the Italian American Club in Ft. Meyers, Fl. In the past, Joe serviced as a Cub Scout leader and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
His family and friends will gather to celebrate his life from 4-7pm Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 North High Street. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am Thursday, April 28, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 10700 Liberty Road, Powell with Father James T. Black officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
