

Joseph C. Viola (Joe), age 89, passed away peacefully Sunday December 29, 2019 with his loving family by his side. Joe was born May 3, 1930 to James and Ada Viola. Married the love of his life, Mary Therese Korting on July 2, 1955. He was preceded in death by parents-James and Ada Viola, brother-Jim Viola, sister-Pearl Baxter, niece-Tina Viola, son-in-law-Larry Feasel, great-grandson-Rylee Lonas and grand son-in-law-Danny Ogier.
Joe is survived by Therese and their six children Karen Feasel, Kay Lonas, Jim (Deb) Viola, Mike (Marianne) Viola, Rich (Suzette) Viola and Kathy Viola. Joe’s legacy includes 19 grandchildren – Alan (Nikki) Feasel, Adam (Diana) Feasel, Kelly (Darren) Godwin, Kristi Ogier, Eric Viola, Lindsay Viola, Mary Kate Viola, Michaela Viola, Mario Viola, Joey (Emily) Viola, Tony Viola, Maria Viola, John Viola, Andy Viola and 14 great-grandchildren – Nicholas, Emily, Braden, Brooklyn, Dylan, Dominic, Luca, Emily, Kailee, Bryson, Kaleb, Blake and Dani. Nephew, Nieces and Cousin -Rick Viola, Lisa Viola-Hofmann, Sharon (Richard) Byrd, Annie Carnes and their families, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Joe proudly served in the Korean War, United States Army 2nd Infantry Division. He was an active member of Amvets Post 89 and American Legion 0171 OH. He retired from Janitrol/Grimes Aerospace after 37 years of service as a Metallurgist. Joe was blessed with a close extended family and many life-long friends who created wonderful memories together including family picnics, vacationing, camping, sports and family milestones. After raising their children in the St James the Less Parish, they became members of St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Westerville and frequently attended St. Matthias.

For all those whose lives have crossed Joe’s path and touched his heart and his theirs, visitation will be Thursday January 2, 2020 from 3:30-7 pm Schoedinger North Funeral Home 5554 Karl Rd Columbus, OH 43229. Funeral Mass, Friday January 3, 2020, will be held at 10 am St. Matthias Catholic Church 1582 Ferris Rd. Columbus, OH 43229. Interment with Military Honors to follow at the Blendon Central Cemetery 6330 S. Hempstead Rd. Westerville, OH 43081.
