Josephine "Jo" Fillinger

Josephine Fillinger, age 96, of Lehigh Acres, FL, formerly of Columbus, OH passed away July 23, 2011. She was born in Columbus to the late Albert and Mellie Goss. Jo was a longtime member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and was the owner and operator of Swiss Cleaners on E. State St. which was in operation for over 40 years. Many will remember her for her passion for cooking and willingness to share meals that she created from the back of her business. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carl Fillinger, Sr. in 1996; also preceded in death by her son, Carl Fillinger, Jr. and siblings, Esther Thomas, Evelyn Weaver, Dorothy Force, Albert Goss and Robert Goss. Josephine is survived by her daughter-in-law, Peggy Fillinger; granddaughter, Laura Jackson-Lautzenhiser and her husband, Roger and great-grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and Mallory Jackson. She is also survived by her brothers, Paul (Mary) Goss and Roland (Margie) Goss and many beloved nieces and nephews, with special thanks to Bob Spaulding and Jill Goss for their frequent visits and loving support during her years in Florida. Josephine loved the Lord, and truly loved her family. Funeral Services will be held at 11am Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Schoedinger Midtown Chapel, 229 E. State St., Columbus, OH 43215 with visitation beginning at 10 am; Rev. Floyd Stolzenburg, officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
