

Judith Ann Hansel, age 86 of Columbus, Ohio, went peacefully to be with her Lord, Tuesday, June 17, 2025. She was surrounded by her three sons and their wives. Judy was born on July 7, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio to the late William and Lillian (Ockelman) Mills.
In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, John Ellis Hansel, Sr. (2023), their youngest son, Joshua Talbot Hansel (1982), and her younger brother, Stephen Allen Mills (2009).
Judith is survived by her brother, William E. Mills (Deborah) of Heath OH and sister, Susan (Tom) Hanes of Jacksonville FL. Also Mom, or more affectionately known as Nana, will be greatly missed by sons John Ellis Hansel, Jr. (Susan) of Columbus OH, Jeffrey Lewis Hansel (Laura) of Orlando FL, and Jayson Mills Hansel (Lisa) of Tarpon Springs FL, grandchildren Karie (Samuel) Coachman of Antelope OR, Kelsey (Christopher) Winand of Columbus OH, Anne (Jerry) Robinson of Orlando FL, Jeffrey T. Hansel of Chicago IL, Elizabeth (James) Oakley of Deltona FL, Megan (Hans) Aschinger of Fort Collins CO, Alexys Hansel of Palm Harbor FL, Jaycob (Mollie) Hansel of Tarpon Springs FL, Abigayle (Vernon) Nelson of Tarpon Springs FL, Gabe Hansel of Independence KY, Zachariah Hansel of Tarpon Springs FL, and great grandchildren Eleanor and Penelope Winand, Samantha Jo, Lou and Summer Aschinger, and Theodore Coachman.
“Judy Mills of Harbor Hills” graduated from Jacksontown High School in 1956. She was a lifeguard at the Crystal Ballroom Pool at Buckeye Lake. She also enjoyed cooling the horses after the polo matches for the Harbor Hills Polo Club. One of the highlights for Judy was going to The Ohio State University and graduating in Home Economics in 1960. She was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and continued to be involved beyond graduation. She was also on the synchronized swimming team (The Swan Club), the Mershon Honor Cadets and the “Collegiennes”, an all- girl marching corps while at Ohio State.
Judy loved creating beautiful things whether that was crafting for Twig to raise money for Children’s Hospital, gardening, home decorating, or hosting parties and holidays which were enjoyed by many.
Judy trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the Billy Graham Crusade in the Columbus Jets baseball stadium on July 14th, 1964. She was a long time member of the Worthington Grace Brethren church. She had a love for sharing with others how they could know Christ.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, July 17, 2025 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221, where a Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Friday, July 18, 2025. A private interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
