Karl R. "Dick" Smith, age 78, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Kobacker House in Columbus, Ohio. He was born March 14, 1937 to the late Karl H. and Lillian (Gompf) Smith in Logan, Ohio. Karl was an Army veteran. He retired as a Fleet Mechanic Supervisor from the City of Columbus after many years of dedicated service. Karl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Margaret (Noll) Smith. Survived by loving daughter, Patty (Randy) Simmons; step-daughter, Renate Hoffman; grandchildren, Michele (Garrick) Turner, Stuart Hoffman, Bryan, William and Charlie (Misty) Simmons; brother, Robert (Karen) Smith. Family will receive friends Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. Interment at Kingwood Memorial Park.
