

Katharine Sharp Ingalls. lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio, most recently of Kensington Place at Lutheran Village where she enjoyed the friendship of the residents there, died on January 4, 2011. Known as Cassie to her many friends, and Mamie to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was born March 9, 1917 and graduated from Bexley High School and the Ohio State University. She is predeceased by her husband, Osmer Charles Ingalls, her mother and father Katharine Cleveland Sharp and Amor Windle Sharp, her brother William Cleveland Sharp Sr., and grandson, David Shawn Ingalls. Katharine was an active community member, participating as a member of the Mayflower Society, former president of the Franklin Garden Club, 75 year member of Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Gamma Chapter, sustainer emeritus of the Junior League of Columbus, Assisting Board I of the Childhood League, the Scholarship Society, former member of the Columbus Country Club and lifetime member of the Broad Street Presbyterian Church. She was an avid gardener and loved nature of all kinds. She spent many happy hours playing bridge and continued to study and play the game into her 90’s. She is the last surviving member of the “sewing circle”, a group of friends who met regularly throughout their lives. She kept up with the politics of the day and enjoyed discussing the issues with her friends and family. She was a loyal wife of 50 years, mother of 4, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by son David S. Ingalls (Patricia) and daughters, Katharine I. Buckham (William), Margaret I. Schick, Mary Anne I. Baum (Howard). Grandchildren include Kelsey I. LaCoste (Toby), Katharine B. Cardwell (Steve), Elizabeth B. Meyland-Smith (Scott), Susan B. Stein (Benjamin), Robert Neil, Ryan and Kevin Baum and 5 great grandchildren. Friends may call Friday from 4-7 PM at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:30 AM at Broad Street Presbyterian Church.
