Kelly Sue (Evans) Shenton died peacefully on April 28, 2021 surrounded by her family that included her husband of 30 years, Robert; daughters Allison (age 23) and Hannah (age 22); mother, Barbara Evans and Allison's fiance, Tommy Dahlborg.
Kelly was born on June 12, 1967 to Ronald (deceased) and Barbara (Jedele) Evans in Bay City, Michigan. Kelly was the oldest of 4 children and loved by her sisters Jill Evans Smith (Florida), Rachel Evans Williams (Arizona) and brother Steve Evans (New York). She graduated from John Glenn High School in Bay City in 1985 and from Concordia University Ann Arbor in 1989 with a degree in biology and physical science, along with her Lutheran Teacher Certification. She also achieved a Masters Degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University.
Kelly's love for science sparked a 25 year career as a Science Educator, teaching at Lutheran Schools in Green Bay, WI and Birmingham, MI. Following a move to Dublin, Ohio, Kelly taught science in the Dublin City Schools at Karrer Middle School. Kelly enjoyed sharing the discovery of science with her students which motivated many students to pursue studies and careers in science - including her daughters, Allison and Hannah.
Kelly met her husband, Robert Edward Shenton, in 1990 and they were married on August 3, 1991 at Faith Lutheran Church in Bay City, Michigan. The wedding was a large family celebration as Robert is also the oldest of 4 children. Robert's parents, Edward and Alice (Stewart) Shenton (MI); sisters Linda Shenton Kell (MI), Mary Shenton Jauregui (OH) and brother Mark Shenton (MI) welcomed Kelly to the Shenton Family.
Kelly and Robert are Blessed with two daughters, Allison Marie (born May 1997) and Hannah Elizabeth (born March 1999). Kelly's passion for academics, science and sports, as well as commitment to community and church was passed on to the girls. Kelly participated as a parent assistant in many of the girls' school and sports activities that included science fairs, soccer and cheerleading. Kelly is so proud of the girls and their achievements including their graduation from the University of Michigan. Allison graduated with a Chemical Engineering degree (May 2019) and is working for Procter and Gamble in Maine. Allison became engaged to Tommy Dahlborg (Maine) on April 24, 2021. Hannah graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Biochemistry in December 2020. Hannah is looking forward to starting medical school in August 2021. Kelly was a supportive and loving Mother!
