

Kenneth Melvin Fleming, age 64, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Zusman House. He was born in Columbus on May 5, 1946, to the late Franklin D. and Mary Elizabeth Fleming. After serving our country in the US Army, Kenny worked for 30 years at Defense Supply Center, Columbus, and also for the Columbus Metro Federal Credit Union. He was a people person and never met a stranger, and everyone who ever met Kenny loved him. He was stubborn, but kind, and he always let you know exactly how he was feeling. He was an excellent cook, and he ran the softball and volleyball leagues for DSCC for many years. Words cannot express what a loving and kindhearted person Kenny was. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Claudia Grant, Charlene Rayford, Geraldine Boynton, and Janice Dowsey; and brothers, George Fleming, and Franklin Fleming, Sr. He is survived by his brothers, Ronald (Patricia), David (Edith), and Stan (Carol) Fleming; his aunt, who raised him, Darlene Fleming; many nieces and nephews; and very special and close friends, Felicia George, Brenda Haynes, Vickie Caldwell, Karen and Barb Murphy, Kevin Henderson, and John Mays. Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2010, at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna. A memorial service will begin at 12 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with C. Dexter Wise officiating.
