Lit a candle in memory of Kenneth A. Huff

I never had the opportunity to meet Kenneth, but after all the great things i'v heard his dad say about him, it seemed like I knew him my whole life. On september 24th, a very special young man was taken. I can only say that my thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and Ken and Carmen, through this difficult time.

Ken was always a very polite and respectful person.  I remember him being very serious about playing his instrument in band at Carlisle High School...such a wonderful young man.  Hugs to Carmen and Ken during this very hard time...you are in our thoughts and prayers daily!  Greg & Paula

Through the years of stories that his father told, I feel like Kenny could have very well been a brother. He was loved beyond measure by Ken and Carmen and I know that their hearts are beyond broken right now. My prayers are with his family but my praise is with Kenny - no longer is he suffering but instead, living in paradise with our Lord.

I never actually got to meet Kenny beyond a quick handshake at church, but I feel like I know him so well from all the stories that his father told of him in our Sunday school class. I pray that all of his family is comforted knowing that he is with God praising him and waiting for them.

He will actually swallow up death forever, and the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will certainly wipe the tears from all faces.”—Isaiah 25:7, 8a.

Melissa, We just got back from vacation and found out that Ken is now at peace. He was an amazing person and it was a real privilege to get to know him better these last few months. He never complained and always had a smile. Your constant love was a source of strength for him. May God give you strength in the coming days. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Gail and Brock

I wanted to add my condolences to the many that you have already received.  Just from our brief time together, I know that Ken was an amazing individual.  My thoughts and prayers will be with you.

Melissa and Ken's Family:  I struggle to find words that will comfort you at this difficult time and there doesn't seem to be any.  Seeing a young, vibrant, talented, much loved man taken so soon is more than most of us can grasp.  The only assurance we can have is that God now holds him and has healed his suffering.  I pray that you can find comfort in that and feel the love and support of your friends at Bethel.

kenny was a great cousin. it makes me happy to know he is with our lord savior and he is HOME. he is with our grandparents and cousins and the rest of they family who is already in heaven. we love you and miss you kenny!!!

I only had Ken as a band director for 2 years, but in those two years, and the years that have followed, he was an amazing pillar of strength for me. He never stopped believing in me, and told me often. He was more than just a band director, more than just an educator, because he cared so much about his students, even after some of us had left high school. I can say that for 100% certainty, Ken is the reason I stuck with education in college, and is my motivation and inspiration in the kind of teacher I hope to become someday. If I can mean half as much to my students, as Ken still means to many of his, then I will consider myself lucky to have had such a great role model in what an amazing teacher, friend, and all around amazing person, like Ken, in my life.

I will always remember Ken's delightful smile and eagerness to help.  He was a great trombonist who loved to play and gladly assisted in worship music whenever asked.  He was a blessing and will truly be missed.

I will always remember Ken and Melissa from my year-long internship at Bethel.  They were the rare 20-somethings who were involved in church, and they were always a joy to spend time with.  Melissa, our hearts go out to you and your family during this time.  May God grant you peace and hope in the promise of the resurrection. Ken never failed to surprise me with the odd things he knew. One of the most memorable was knowing all of the words to Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby". He used to sing the entire song to me on the band bus going to and coming from games and contests. I think he knew it made me crazy! Ken had such an infectious personality that I finally gave in and started singing it with him. I guess you could call it a good luck charm that worked! Ken was always my pillar of strength and the one I knew I could always go to. I will miss his friendship but I know he will always be with me. I love you friend!

I lived with Melissa Huff during my second year of graduate school and saw Ken often.  We had a landlord who neglected our property, and after removing a faulty toilet, he left it on our back porch.  After walking past a broken toilet for weeks, finally Ken and one of mutual friends decided to dump the toilet into our dumpster.  I thought it was pretty funny when Ken said, "You may not believe this, but this isn't the first time I've thrown a toilet into a trash can."  I also spent many hours with Ken and Melissa watching our guilty pleasure TV shows, Desperate Housewives and Project Runway.  And, of course, I can't forget the famous inquisition in which Valerie Tharp Byers and I grilled Ken for hours to make sure Ken was a good fit for our Melissa.  I wish much love and peace to Melissa and Ken's family, friends, and former students.

Ken was a unique man.  He was always smiling and surrounded by friends.  He was one of my daughter Jessica's best friends all through school and field commander at Carlisle. His talent on trombone was boundless and he shared that gift with his bandmates and all the kids he taught.  I am honored to have been a small part of his life.  Sleep peacefully my friend.
