

Kent W. Burgert, age 64, of Upper Arlington, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, June 15, 2016. He was born November 5, 1951 in Columbus, son of the William and Lorraine (Reimann) Burgert. Kent was a longtime physical education teacher at West and Beechcroft High Schools and men's varsity basketball coach at Beechcroft and Columbus West High School retiring in 2007 after 30 years of service. He also was a pro shop employee at The OSU Golf Club for 43 years. Kent will be sorely missed and is survived by his wife of 37 years, Joan (MacWood) Burgert; son Brendan Burgert; daughter, Keeley Burgert; mother Lorraine Burgert; sister, Lisa Burgert; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pam MacWood, Patty and Frank Alvarez, Nancy and Bob Brandon, Peggy MacWood and Dick MacWood; numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Burgert; brother, Barry Burgert; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Lucile MacWood and brother-in-law, Thomas MacWood. Kent received his Bachelor and Master's degrees from The Ohio State University. He was a member of St. Andrew Parish, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 am Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1899 McCoy Rd at Reed Rd, with Fr. Tony Davis, Celebrant.
