Kent Grunkemeyer

Kent Alan Grunkemeyer, passed away suddenly on Thursday June 14, 2018. He was born on December 10, 1952 on Columbus, Ohio to the late William and Eunice Grunkemeyer. A 1971 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School, Kent went on to work for Lazarus Downtown until he retired in 1991. He then worked for Gahanna Schools as a Custodian and retired in 2013. Kent always enjoyed talking with all the children, teachers, and faculty at Royal Manor Elementary. Kent loved to walk around Gahanna with Penny, his dog who was his lifelong companion and buddy. He enjoyed taking numerous family vacations including, a cruise he had planned with his siblings and their spouses to the Bahamas last December. Kent had many friends, including co-workers, neighbors, and people he would meet around Gahanna. He spend many Friday and Saturday nights at the East Dallas Bar where he earned the nick-name, Manhattan Harry.

Kent is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tom; and Nephew Chester.

He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Bill (Myra), June (George), Tim, Mark (Kim); many beloved nieces and nephews; cousins; friends; and Penny.

Family will receive friends on Thursday June 28, 2018 from 4-7pm at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, Ohio 43230; where a service will be held on Friday June 29, 2018 at 11am. Interment to follow, Mifflin Cemetery. Pastor William Thomas Grunkemeyer to officiate.
