LeeAnn M. Massucci, 64, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on January 19, 2025, after a fierce battle with cancer. A wife, sister, attorney, aunt, great aunt, tennis coach, community advocate, entertainer, trailblazer, and friend to many, LeeAnn’s death has left a blank space in our hearts that will never be filled.
Survived by spouse and partner of 32 years, Lori J. Brown, of Columbus along with their dogs, Red and Cooper, and the cat who watched over her every day, Oliver. LeeAnn was endlessly devoted to her family and is survived by sister, Sherry Massucci of Columbus; brother David Massucci of Geneva, Ohio; nieces and nephews Marisa Ray-Gooden (Daniel); Makensie Coniski (Robert); Jenny Frey (Max); Daniel Massucci (Nicole); and Michael Massucci (Katy). LeeAnn loved spending time with great nephew, Lucian Ray-Gooden, and great niece, Delaney Coniski, who also survive her. She was predeceased by her parents, Molly F. and Pat M. Massucci of Geneva, and her brother, Pat Massucci.
LeeAnn graduated from Geneva (Ohio) High School, the University of Alabama, The Ohio State University, and Capital University Law School. A nationally ranked tennis player as a junior, LeeAnn starred on the team at Alabama. Always proud to say she was a Buckeye, LeeAnn served as the head women’s tennis coach at Ohio State from 1983-1996; a teaching pro at clubs in Columbus; an officer of the Greater Columbus Tennis Association; and was a lifetime player. Between coaching and law school, LeeAnn was the proprietor of the Clubhouse Café, an LGBTQ “hangout” that also served as the home for many community-based advocacy programs. LeeAnn was especially proud of her career as a lawyer and advocate for the LGBTQ community as well as serving membership terms on several boards.
After graduating from law school, LeeAnn practiced primarily family law at firms in the Columbus area and was gifted in LGBTQ advocacy, mediation, and cases focusing on the best interests of children. She created the Massucci Law Group in 2016 and practiced there until 2024. LeeAnn was also a Senior Staff Attorney at Equality Ohio until the end of December 2024. She truly loved every opportunity to assist members of the Ohio LBGTQ community.
