Lloyd Raymond Brown, age 78, of Columbus, Ohio, died March 7th, 2018, after a battle against lung cancer. On February 16th, 1940, he was born in Menifee County, KY, the son of the late Jim and Jenney Brown. On August 15th, 1959, he married Sharon Brown in Butler County, OH. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughters Michelle (and her husband, Alex) and Tammy; his widowed son-in-law Gary, his 8 grandchildren and their spouses (Brandi and her husband Jeff, Ricky, Anthony and his wife Jennifer, Nicole, Joshua, Tanya and her husband Jimmy, Corey, and Kaylie); his siblings Mary (and her husband, Ronald), Ernie (and his wife, Kathy), and Imogene (and her husband, Melvin); his great-grandchildren Ciara, Chase, Gabbi, Nathanyel, Zachary, Liam, Ethan, Austin, Justina, Destiny, Autumn, Deandre, Dominick, Mycah, Joey, Kenzie, Taylor, Eva, Freddy, Kenzie, Elise, Edison, and Ezekiel. Outside of his family, he had an even bigger family with his brothers and sisters in Christ. He is also survived by his granddaughter Tina's best friend Meghan, who, in light of recent tragedy, has become part of the family. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon, his daughter Jenny, his siblings Laverne, Junior, Fairis, Phyllis, and Dody, and his son-in-law Rick. Raymond, as he was called by those who knew him (also called Papa!), had numerous full-time jobs - as a carpenter, husband, father, and messenger of the Word of God. He and his wife, Sharon, lived in Blacklick Estates for nearly half a century. There, he raised his 3 daughters, and lived out his retirement happily with his dogs PJ and Tiny. His greatest passions in life were for God, singing and playing worship music on his guitars, spending time with his family, and watching sports. His favorite sport was baseball, and he was a die-hard Buckeye. He enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden, playing horseshoe, and being involved in his church. He loved his kids and grandkids, and always had a full van over the years taking them to either church or his house for quality time. He also loved his wife all the way through till her death last summer, and he shared a love for her that many in today's day and age have seemingly forgotten exists. For those who knew him, Raymond did not know the meaning of the word "stranger." He connected with so many people around him through his faith in Jesus. In his life, he gave 110 in imitating the unyielding love and forgiveness characteristic of his Lord in his relationships with both his family and friends alike. He practiced modesty and displayed a relentless work ethic. He also inspired people both in his home church and all the churches that he visited with hope and joy through praise and worship for Jesus Christ. He could make anyone in their darkest hour feel like there was something worth living for, and during this time, it's important to remember that he would have wanted his loved ones to live their lives with persistence and grit, even in the face of death. Although not with us anymore, he was a man who can confidently be said to have left a legacy behind. The funeral service for Raymond Brown will be open to all who'd like to attend, and will be held on Sunday, March 11th, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 5:00PM with service starting at 5:00PM at Reynoldsburg Freewill Baptist Church, at 9508 Taylor Rd SW, in Reynoldsburg, OH, 43068. On Monday, March 12th, 2018, he will be laid to rest privately at the Family Farm in Rutland, OH with his daughter Jenny, and his wife Sharon. Arrangements entrusted to the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL.
