

Lois grew up in Cleveland and moved to Gahanna in 1972. She was a long time member of St. Matthew Church and was employed with State Office Supplies for nearly 20 years. Lois enjoyed life, loved to travel all over the world (especially to Vegas) and taking memorable vacations with the kids. She loved being under the sun in warm weather. Lois had a fighting spirit. She celebrated life with her friends and family and enjoyed the fun times spent with them. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, William Bates and great-grandchildren, Natalie, Tobias and Vincent Bates. Lois will be missed by her loving companion of 15 years, Bill Swope; daughters, Deborah (Michael) Huffman, Victoria Spence; son-in-law, Eric Spence; sons, Mark (Wendy) Bates, Scott (Cindy) Bergenstein; grandchildren, Henry Huffman; Eric and Richard Spence; Brandon (Kim), Justin, and Molly Bates; Elias, Evan, Emily and Eloise Bergenstein; great granddaughter, Anastasia Catherine Bates; brother, Henry (Norma) Bergenstein and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends Sunday, February 22, 2015 from 2-6 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus. Services and burial will be held at a later date.
