

Lois Jean Hardy, age 88, was born March 13, 1928 to Norma and Ralph Walters on a farm in Greenville, Ohio and passed away peacefully March 17th at Serenity House in Grove City, Ohio. Lois was a member of Westgate United Methodist Church for nearly 70 years where she was a dedicated musician and faithful servant of the Lord. She organized and participated in the church's bell choir for many years. Prior to her marriage in 1948 she worked as a secretary at Hughes-Peters Electrical Supply Company in Columbus where she met her future husband Donald Hardy. A devoted wife and mother, she did secretarial work for her husband's sales career and supported her children in dance lessons, Boy Scouts, Campfire Girls, and band in addition to being active in their school life. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, and brother Charles "Buster" Walters. During her long illness she received excellent and loving long term and hospice care by the staff members of Serenity House. A heartfelt thanks to owner and director Kellie Hatcher whose selfless devotion to such a higher calling is inspiring. Her passion for making her clients and their families feel a part of her own family and providing a real home setting in which loved ones could spend the last weeks and months of their lives was of great comfort to Lois and her family. Our gratitude is beyond words. She is survived by her sister Shirley (Harold) Marker, daughter Jan (Steve) Stone, son Kim (Edie) Hardy, grandchildren Andrew (Tanyah) Stone, Erin (John) McLaughlin, Kevin Hardy, Amanda Zink, Deeanna McConahay, and three great-grandsons, AJ and Walker Stone, and Kenton Hardy McLaughlin. Additionally, Lois is survived by many, many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews and many farming community friends in Greenville, Ohio and her Westgate church family. Services will be held at Westgate Church, 68 S. Powell Ave on Thursday March 24th at 11:00am. The Reverend Dr. Brenda Buckwell and Pastor Owen Stotts officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio. Calling hours at Schoedinger Hilltop Chapel on Wednesday March 23rd from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
