Mabel Jones

Mabel Esther Jones, age 94, of Hilliard, OH passed away Tuesday, 17 November 2015. Mabel was born May 28, 1921 to Mary Catherine (Davis) and Hayward Massey Sr. in Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd R. Jones; mother Mary Catherine; father Hayward Massey Sr. and brothers Hayward Jr, Richard and James Lewis “Wally”.

After the sudden death of her mother, Mabel left school to raise her three younger brothers; Hayward Jr. (Mary), James Lewis “Wally” (Betty) and Richard.

Hayward Sr. remarried Opal “Peg” Stark giving Mabel two other siblings, Sandra Harvey (George) and Robert (Sue).

With limited education, Mabel excelled working at Pierson’s Jewelry in Saginaw MI; managing sales and Fashion at Rike’s Department Store in Dayton, OH and JC Penney’s at various locations where she won many sales awards. After retiring from JC Penney’s, Mabel volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels in Big Rapids, MI. She also enjoyed the many foster’s and adoptive dogs from “All American Dachshund Rescue”, being the enormous dog lover that she was.

Mabel is survived by her two loving daughters, Judy Ann and Susan Karen Campbell; brother Robert (Sue); sister Sandra Harvey (George); two grandsons, James “Ty” Campbell (April) and Craig Lee Foster; four great-grandchildren, Cierra Nicole Campbell, Jaiden Alexander Conrad, Cydne Nikel Campbell and Mariah Lynn Foster; niece Patricia (Daniel); nephews, Rodney (deceased), James Lewis Jr, Terry (Pam), Michael (Barb) and Timothy (June); several Great and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews.

Family will receive friends Sunday, November 22nd at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St., Columbus, OH 43215 from Noon to 2:00pm, with memorial service beginning at 2:00pm. Pastor Lloyd Markley officiating.
