

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mardell J. Willit announce her passing on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Fred and Lydia Boyce.
She will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters, Kristine Galitza, Julie (Joe) Walter, Laura (Mitch) Adkins; grandchildren Sherry (Damian), Nicole (Steve), Jennifer (Matthew), Brittny (Sean), and Lucas (Victoria); great grandchildren Raegan (Mason), Uriah, Griffin, Ellora, Thomas and Kaiden.
In addition to her parents, Mardell was preceded in death by first husband and father of her children, Allan: second husband, James; and son-in-law Tom Galitza.
Mardell thoroughly enjoyed her time at Otterbein University and earned her degree in Sociology and Psychology. In addition to her roles as homemaker and mother, Mardell was a case worker for Catholic Social Services, administrative assistant to the Superintendent of Bucyrus City Schools and Grandview Heights City Schools, as well as a hospice volunteer at Kobacker House.
Mardell will be remembered as having a quick- witted sense of humor, a strong love and loyalty for family and friends, and a passion for music, travel, needlework and flower arranging.
The family is holding a private celebration of life at a later date.
Her faith in God was a cornerstone of Mardell’s life. She was a long-time member of First Community Church where she served in many capacities. Mardell and her family enjoyed their times together at First Community Church’s Camp Akita.
