Margaret M. Carpenter

Margaret M. (Ailshire) Carpenter, 88, passed away to her eternal reward, Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Freeport, Ohio. She was born July 8, 1922, in Columbus, to the late Perry and Effie (Hughes) Ailshire. She was a graduate of East High School. Margaret married Tilford “Tip: C. Carpenter in 1941. She and “Tip” loved nature. They were very into camping, mountain climbing, canoeing, hiking, snow skiing and square dancing. Margaret retired from Lazarus as an associate in the sewing machine and sewing departments. She enjoyed making clothes for her children and grandchildren throughout the years. Margaret was a very loving and caring person who was a longtime member of Shepherd Church of the Nazarene. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Tilford “Tip” Carpenter; her parents and infant brother, Perry Ailshire. She is survived by son, Mitchell (Sandy) Carpenter; daughter, Kathy (Calvin) Mallarnee; grandchildren, Mary (John) Vroman, Mitch T. Carpenter, Robin (Sherry) Coccia, Dana (Kirk) Sigman, Wendy (Pete) McGlothlin, Ryan (Tabitha) Carpenter, Mike (Patti) Mallarnee and Michelle (Toby) Ekers; great-grandchildren, Audra, Jayna, John, Taylor, Brandy, Ashley, Kat, Nikki, Logan, Lauren, Kiefer, Zella, Carmen, Cara, Cal and Kayla; great great-grandchildren, Ethan and Addison; sisters, Wilma Jean Gannon, Alice Williams and Charlene Dozier; brother, George (Becky) Ailshire; many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Margaret was strong and loving influence in the life of Bailey Weghorst and also a very supportive person to the Murphy family, especially Mairead who was an accomplished Irish dancer. Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road and one hour prior to the service at church. A funeral service will be held 11 AM, Friday, June 24, 2011 at Shepherd Church of the Nazarene, 425 S. Hamilton Road, Gahanna. Private family interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shepherd Church of the Nazarene.
