Marian Prugh Nichol passed away on October 24, 2021, while in hospice care at her residence at Brookdale, Trillium Crossing in Columbus, Ohio. A week before, she was able to participate in a lovely gathering with her immediate family.
Marian is survived by her three children and their respective spouses, David and Jackie Nichol, Anne and Ken Luongo, and Sara and Joe Patchen; her grandchildren, Kate Nichol, Sam Patchen, and Addie Patchen; and two nephews, Tom Prugh and Kemp Prugh.
Born in Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, Marian grew up on her family's farm there, and always thought of herself as a "farmer's daughter," claiming that this explained her lifelong fascination with the weather. She left Dayton to attend Monmouth College in Monmouth Illinois. She married Charles Nichol and lived in Evanstan, IL while he attended Northwestern University. They moved to Athens Ohio, where Charles taught at Ohio University.
Later on they moved to Columbus, Ohio. Marian began working at Chemical Abstracts Services, ultimately becoming Supervisor of their document delivery service department; she worked at CAS until her retirement.
Marian was also a longtime member of Crestview Presbyterian Church, where she led the choir for many years. Although her health prevented her from attending church in recent years, she cherished her friendships with members of the church up until the end of her life.
Marian was an avid reader and lover of classical music, and when she was able to, loved traveling, visiting places as diverse as England and Turkey. She especially loved her trip to Switzerland with her brother and his wife and their son, Kemp Jr.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 5PM until 7PM at the Schoedinger Funeral Home in Worthington, Ohio.
