

Marilyn McCall-Lawrence departed this life on Saturday, March 12th 2011. She was born on July 4, 1949 in Hartford, Connecticut. She was preceded in death by her parents the late Sarge McCall Jr. and Lizzie V. McCall, and sisters Ida and Nancy McCall.
She received a Bachelor of Science of Elementary Education from Central State University. She later attended Central Michigan University where she received a Master in Education. She attended Wilberforce University where she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (Beta Chapter). She was member of the Saginaw Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, where she served on various committee and community based projects.
Marilyn continued her post graduate work at Ashland University majoring Educational Administration. She was a loving teacher. She taught in the Buena Vista school district for thirty- three years. She retired and took a job with the Columbus City Schools Africentric Program teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten. Additionally, she worked as a second grade teacher in Columbus City Schools and worked as a tutor for Columbus City Schools Home Instruction Program.
Marilyn has receive various awards for her service as a teacher and served the Saginaw and Columbus City Schools with pride.
She was survived by her sister Shirley M. Gramby and Brother-in-law Charles Gramby, daughter Tiffany Lawrence- Robinson and son-in-law Derek Robinson, daughter Elizabeth Carter Moses and son Tramond Lawrence, 5 grandchildren Chelsea Beaufort, Alexandria Moses, Brianna Moses, Jordyn Robinson, Derek Robinson Jr., and great grandson Jaylen Del'Valle, and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., with visitation for one hour prior to the service.
