She is also proceeded in death by her mother, Lorene Perie, who died at the age of 100 and her beloved father, Ernest.
Marsha is survived by her children Jeffrey (Nicole) Smith, of Dublin, OH and Kimberly (David) Folkeson of Los Angeles, CA.
Marsha's passion was teaching. She worked as teacher in Philadelphia and New Jersey prior to moving to Dublin where she worked for Dublin City Schools for 24 years teaching third grade at Olde Sawmill and Bailey Elementary. She made life-long friends and entertained her family with many funny teacher stories. She retired in 2010 to fulfill her greatest role as "Nana".
Marsha's pride and joy were her grandchildren Taggart Michael and Jovie Belle Smith. She filled their childhood with magic and games, love and curiosity. She spent her days in the preschool pick up line followed by fun lunches out and lots of adventures. They often refused to come home. As they grew older, they adored having a live-in Nana, where they could go to "Nana's side" and play Uno Attack, get help with homework, and ALWAYS leave with a treat.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Marsha had a passion for traveling, sports, lottery tickets, fine cuisine, and a good G&T. Her most recent trips took her to LA to visit Kim and Dave and to Arizona to spend time with her brother, Michael and sister-in-law, Linda. She adored visiting friends, Jerry and Theresa, in the fall to see the changing leaves in Michigan. She loved Vegas and would often be the last one back to the room in the evening, always winning the most at the slot machines. Her love of Vegas extended to scratch off tickets, which she would hide throughout the house every holiday for her family to find! She loved visiting LA and being pampered by Kim and Dave, often going to bougie restaurants and drinking the best champagne. She took joy in getting together with her friends for book club, and the family would like to thank ALL of her long-time friends for all their support during her cancer journey. Special thanks to Susan Julian and Helen Leach for their support, love and comfort.
Marsha had a bright and energetic personality that even cancer couldn't diminish. She was known for her ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She fought her ovarian cancer with grace and strength till the very end.
We will miss her calls, her texts, her laugh, and her eye rolls. We will miss her in the quiet times and during the Buckeye games. We will miss opening Christmas stockings with her and her amazing breakfast casserole. But we take solace knowing that she is finally with her beloved husband Randy, hopefully enjoying a medium filet, Oscar style, and a glass of Perrier-Jouet.
Calling hours will be on Friday, October 29th at Schoedinger Funeral of Dublin from 4:00-7:00pm. Funeral will take place Saturday, October 30th at Schoedinger Funeral of Dublin at 11:00am. Following the service we invite you back to the Smith house for a reception to celebrate Marsha's life.
