Martha Lichtensteiger

Martha Lucille Lichtensteiger, age 89, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023. She was born on April 15, 1934 at her family’s farmhouse near Wren in Van Wert County to the late Paul and Mary (Pancake) Lichtensteiger.

Martha graduated Wren High School as Valedictorian in 1951, then attended Ohio State University graduating with BS in Nursing. Martha worked at OSU Hospital becoming Head Nurse of her floor. She received a teaching degree and taught for a few years in New Albany, Ohio. Putting Nursing and Teaching together Martha became a School Nurse at Worthington, Ohio for many, many years. During that time she also continued her education earning a Masters Degree and additional training to become a Nurse Practitioner. Martha loved theatre and enjoyed many hundreds of plays as well as traveling all over the world. Martha touched countless lives in her roles as nurse, teacher, school nurse, counselor, volunteer and beloved aunt, sister and friend.

She was survived by and will be greatly missed by her siblings Dean Lichtensteiger, Jo Ann Lyon; her nieces and nephews Gary (Virginia) Lichtensteiger, Alan (Bev) Lichtensteiger, Andy (Nancy, deceased) Lichtensteiger, Linda (Brent) Adams, Paul (Teresa) Lichtensteiger, Steven (Loralee) Lichtensteiger, Thad (Deb) Lichtensteiger, Sandy (Scott) Etzler, Diane Lichtensteiger, Mike (Ruth) Lichtensteiger, David (Janice) Lichtensteiger, Carol Lichtensteiger, Mary Lichtensteiger, Susan (Ron) Caldwell, Larry Lichtensteiger, Nancy Lichtensteiger, Janet Lichtensteiger-Kelly, Lisa (Eric) DuVernary Rousculp, Todd (Lisa) Duvernay, Rhea (Jacques Cote) Utley, and Jared (Megan) Utley; as well as many great and great, great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her siblings Frederick Lichtensteiger, Karl Lichtensteiger and Pauline Utley.

A visitation will be held for Martha Thursday, August 10 from 11 AM - 2 PM followed immediately by a 2:00 PM funeral service. If you prefer not to do flowers contributions can be made to Dublin Community Church or Kobacker House in Martha’s memory.
